About the Narrow Band UVB
The Narrow Band UVB Phototherapy effectively treats psoriasis and other skin disorders. It’s commonly used on skin diseases that are more widespread on the body, while our other machines focus on more centralized conditions. The power of the laser along with the length of the treatment depends entirely on the patients skin type. Skin type also determines both the type and amount of moisturizer applied before the treatment. The main risks from prolonged UVB therapy are premature skin aging along with an increased risk of non-fatal skin cancers. Patients with fair skin who burn instead of tanning and those who have been previously exposed to x-rays, grenz rays or arsenic are at higher risk for these side effects. Between treatment sessions it’s important for patients to limit sun exposure as well as use sunscreen whenever exposed and keep skin moisturized.
