where it all started....

Cheryl Bourgault, MHS, PA-C is a nationally certified physician assistant (PA).  Cheryl graduated from Duke University in 2001 with a Master of Health Sciences degree in Physician Assistant Studies.  She spent the first eight years of her career in family practice and has spent the last ten years with Dr. Diane Baird practicing dermatology.

Physician assistants are medical professionals who perform physical exams, order and interpret tests, diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, perform surgical procedures and often serve as a patient’s principal healthcare provider.  PAs in dermatology evaluate, diagnosis and treat a broad variety of skin, hair, and nail conditions that are treated both medically and surgically. They also perform screening exams, preventive care and provide education for dermatologic patients and families. PAs are unique in that they practice with a collaborating physician in a team approach to care for patients.

Cheryl is certified through the National Commission on Certifying Physician Assistants where she is required to take a national certifying exam every ten years and complete fifty hours of continuing medical education annually.

Cheryl is a member of the following professional organizations:

·         American Academy of Physician Assistants

·         Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (national)

·         Oregon Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants

·         Oregon Dermatology Society

Cheryl thoroughly enjoys working in dermatology.  She loves that she can make such a difference in patients' lives -whether it be in a small way by helping a patient get rid of an annoying itchy rash to more dramatic ways by helping clear psoriasis or removing skin cancers. She particularly enjoys skin surgery.

Cheryl lives in Eugene and has four spoiled furry children - two Pembroke Welsh Corgis and two cats. She likes to spend her spare time creating - including fused glass, jewelry, silk painting, sewing, baking, and gardening. She also enjoys hiking and exploring Eugene and the beauty of Oregon with her husband and two dogs.
